Atlanta ranks No. 1 for steampunk
You’re more prone to hire a company sporting 19th-century goggles, a bustier, a pocket watch, along with a machine arm while riding a skeletal, steam-powered tractor in Atlanta than you’re in every other U.S. city. Movoto, a genuine estate site, lately crunched data on various metros to find out we deserved the steampunk superlative. For that masses not aware from the sci-fi genre, it fetishizes steam power, Victorian appearance, and inventions. It’s nature West mashed track of robotics, as seen via a punk lens. A lot like Mad Max.
How’d we score the very best place for steam enthusiasts? We shouldn’t be too surprised because we also rated as Movoto’s nerdiest city thanks partly to Georgia Techies, and our history like a railroad hub most likely didn’t hurt. However, our plentiful antique shops and conventions won over Movoto. In reality, though, this award is associated with DragonCon. In the end, the convention almost won the Guinness World Record for Largest Gathering of Steampunks.
